With her strong and unwavering determination, involved social conciousness and dedication to service, Lion Indira Ravindranath PMJF has distinguished herself. Her brilliance at oratory, bilingualism, clarity of vision and systematic organization helped her create a place in history as the first lady District Governor of 324 E1 and the second lady District Governor in Kerala. A scion of the famed Mangalathu House, Kaviyoor, Lion Indira Ravindranath had the benefit of the guidance and values instilled in by her father Shri.K.K.Krishna Pillai, Retired Sub Divisional Magistrate and her progressive mother Smt.Kamalakshy Amma. Her education has been multidisciplinary - Schooling and collegiate education from Trivandrum, Post Graduation and M.Phil from Annamala University. Proving herself to be a perfectionist, Lion Indira is pursuing a Doctorate in Sociology as she believes that, to understand and solve the lacunae in society one must have a scientific and theoretical understanding of the same. She has been active in Lionism since 1981 and her career graph has always moved upwards. After serving in the Director Board, she went on to hold posts like President, Zone and Region Chairpersons and was District Chairperson three times, holding International recognized portfolios. She enrolled as MJF in 2002 and PMJF in 2007. Her scintillating performance in Lionism has been recognized through numerous awards. The most distinguished among them are Best President Award for District and Multiple, Best Zone Chairperson Award for District and Multiple, Best Region Chairperson Award for District and Multiple. She was also awarded Lion of the year in Multiple District and has received International President’s Certificate of Appreciation for six consecutive years. Simple living and High Thinking and Duty with Innovation and Responsibility are some of the guiding principles of her life. She was responsible for Dishadarsini, a monthly pamphlet as part of Orientation. As Region Chairperson she brought out the Club Officer’s Manual. She is a passionate believer in the Gandhian Principle of involving women in social activities and empowering them. Lion Indira extends the scope of her service abilities as the Patron Member of Lions Bhavan, Trivandrum, Lions School, Kollam and is associated with a number of service societies. Possessing a multifaceted personality, Lion Indira has had an outstanding track record in academic and literary activities. She has the distinction of presenting the only M.Phil thesis by a Lion on Lionism "Structure and Functions of a Voluntary Service Organisation - A Case Study of Lions Clubs in Trivandrum". The thesis is kept at the International Headquarters upon the recommendation of the International President. She has visited U.K., Switzerland, Canada and Srilanka and holds the distinction of being the only lady Lion to have published a travelogue. On the personal front, Lion Indira is happily married to Lion Dr.P.K.Ravindranath MJF, a consultant surgeon. He served as District Governor in undivided District 324 E1 during 1996-97. |
